Our Village
Trefin.
If you need to get away from it all for a while head our way. Things move at a different pace in our part of the world and you'll soon find yourself adjusting to 'Pembrokeshire Time'. Electricity arrived in our village as late as 1958 and there are still aspects of the modern world that haven't reached us yet. The nearest big supermarket is 17 miles away but just up the road in the satellite village of Penparc, Don and Delsie's 'miniature Harrods' will supply all your needs. A short stroll from the hostel is The Ship Inn, our 'congenial village local' as described by The Good Beer Guide. There's always a guest ale on tap and Mike and Meriel specialise in serving up hearty portions of old favourites like Pembrokeshire pork and leek sausages and steak and ale pie. Near the village square (more of a rock really) is the Oriel-y-Felin gallery and tea-room. We're all very chuffed that Les Routiers have nominated it their café of the year. Here's what they say about it: "It's the quality of the ingredients that turn the ordinary light dishes of this spick-and-span and welcoming tea room-cum-galley into the extraordinary. Everything is freshly prepared from locally sourced ingredients, right down to the organic bread from an artisan baker." So, the best café in the whole nation is to be found here in Trefin. Fame at last for our little edge of the world village but then we always knew it was a special place! Come and discover it for yourself.
