Getting Here from There
If you arrive at The Old School Hostel, Trefin on foot,
by bike or by public transport you will receive a discount in shared, private and single rooms.
If walking the whole coast path buy a return coach or train ticket
to Carmarthen and either catch the bus from there to Cardigan for
nearby St. Dogmael's at the northern start of the path or continue
by train to Kilgetty near Amroth for the southern start to the path.
Sustrans Route 4, The Celtic Trail, passes through Trefin.
Secure cycle storage is available at The Old School Hostel.

All below times are Monday to Friday and most apply on Saturday too. We've done our best to check that they are correct but please don't sue us if they're not. Give us a call if you need further help - we've got various timetables to hand, and see our links page for train, coach, bus and taxi companies contact details.
There is now an excellent direct service every
2 hours from Manchester Piccadilly, Crewe, Shrewsbury, Hereford,
Newport, Cardiff and Swansea to Haverfordwest. £30 return from
Manchester if booked in advance with good availability. The connections
by bus on to us aren't brilliant but do offer the opportunity of
a visit to a nice riverside pub in Haverfordwest. We would suggest the
08.30 from Manchester due 14.07. Have a drink at the Bristol
Trader or pick up supplies in the shops and catch the 16.15 bus (No.411)
from the bus station in the centre of town via St Davids to Trefin. It arrives in Trefin 17.20.
The easiest way to us by train is to travel to the newly opened Fishguard & Goodwick Station. The
10.57 from Cardiff (08.45 connecting service from London
Paddington) arrives Fishguard Harbour 13.17 and there is a 13.47
bus (No. 413) from nearby Goodwick Harbour Garage (next to the Petrol Station) due Trefin 14.20. Leaving Trefin it's convenient too, pick up the 9.08 (No. 413) bus from the village and arrive in good time for the 9.59 departure from Fishguard and Goodwick Station.
There are daily long distance National Express coaches
from various towns and cities direct to Haverfordwest. The No.528 coach
at 10am from Blackpool (another popular holiday spot that, like Trefin
has unfortunately lost out on its bid to become the super casino capital
of the UK) calls at Preston, Manchester, Birmingham and stops at various
towns in South Wales including Carmarthen. Unfortunately it doesn't
arrive at Haverfordwest until 9.25 pm and there are no forward bus connections, a taxi one way costs about £40. See the links page for local taxi numbers.
The No. 508 direct service from London Victoria
coach station departs at 12 noon, calls at Reading then
is non stop to Chepstow. It then calls at various towns in South Wales
including Carmarthen and arrives Haverfordwest at 18.55. The No. 412
bus departs Haverfordwest bus station at 18.45 due Fishguard 19.18.
We're about 10 miles from Fishguard, a taxi one way costs about £15. See the links page for local
From the M4 take the A48 dual carriageway to Carmarthen,
then the A40 bypassing Haverfordwest. Continue to Letterston,
(great sit down fish and chip shop called 'Something's Cooking on
the right) and in the centre of the village turn left onto
the B4331. After about 5 miles turn left again onto the A487. After
about 2.5 miles, just after the petrol station on your left and the
yellow painted Square and Compass pub on your right, turn right
signposted Trefin. It's about 1 mile to the village. Immediately after
the pink house turn right into our car-park. Reception opens at 5pm
by the way.
